TAV Airports Holding is a success story written with know-how, experience and creativity in airport operations, one of the most challenging industries in the world.

TAV's history dates back to 1997 with the official call for tenders for the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal Building. TAV Airports Holding was established as a joint venture between the Tepe and Akfen Groups, the winning bidders for the contract. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is among the very first examples of the "Build-Operate-Transfer" model in airport operations projects in the world. This project, reflecting the contemporary image of Turkey, was also the first concrete step in TAV's success story.

Growing to become a great success in a relatively short period of time, TAV has achieved the status of a global brand name, not only in airport construction projects, but in airport operations - a brand new field, no less – with its considerable know how, high quality human resources and advanced technology.

TAV, as a part of a planned process, reorganized its corporate structure in 2006, gathering all of its "operations" activities under TAV Airports Holding (TAV Airports) and the "construction" activities under TAV Construction. Following this reorganization, TAV Airports Holding was presented for initial public offering in February 2007. The company continues to build on its success every year and strive to represent Turkey in the best manner possible in the international arena.

TAV AIRPORTS HOLDING

According to DHMI (State Airports Authority) 2009 passenger statistics, TAV Airports is the leading airport operator in Turkey with a 48 per cent market share. TAV Airports Holding currently operates Istanbul Ataturk Airport, the Ankara Esenboga International and Domestic Terminal, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport International Terminal and Antalya Gazipasa Airport in Turkey, as well as Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports in Georgia and the Monastir Habib Bourguiba and Enfidha-Hammamet Airport in Tunisia, abroad. Additionally, TAV holds the option to operate the Alexander the Great International Airport in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, in addition to the St. Paul the Apostle International Airport in Ohrid. TAV Airports also actively participates in other areas of airport operations, such as ground and management services, duty free retail stores, food and beverage services, IT and security. The Company, together with its subsidiaries, provides services to approximately 420,000 flights and 48 million passengers a year.

Non-aviation related revenues constitute 55% of TAV Airports’ consolidated revenues. The largest portion of this is received from ATU, of which TAV Airports is 50% partner, which operates the duty-free shops. TAV Airports Holding had a turnover of 785 million Euros (consolidated revenues) as announced in its 2010 financial statement prepared for UFRS. Company stocks are traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange under “TAVHL” since 23 February 2007.

TAV İstanbul

Istanbul, Turkey’s gate to the world, is a test in terms of airport operations, with a population of over 15 million and millions of guests welcomed every year. The Atatürk Airport International Terminal, which was built under the Build Operate Transfer model, was constructed in the record time of 22 months. The terminal, which was opened for services in January 2000, was expanded with an additional facility built in 2004. TAV Airports Holding was awarded the operation of the Domestic Terminal in July 2005. With works undertaken in 2006, the 25-year old Domestic Terminal was modernized with new technological systems as well as a renovated façade. The İstanbul Atatürk Airport is not only the largest airport in Turkey, but also looked upon with respect throughout Europe due to its architecture, passenger flow speed and the services it offers. Istanbul Atatürk is utilized by 1,000 airplanes and approximately 100,000 passengers every day.
