Akfen Renewable Energy Signs Agreements for Three SPP with a Total Capacity of 66 MW in One Week

2 min

Akfen Renewable Energy, with its installed capacity of 700 MW generated solely from local and renewable sources such as solar, water, and wind, has recently announced three separate investment agreements within just one week.

These three hybrid solar energy power plant (GES) projects, totaling a capacity of 66 MW, will further boost the company’s commitment to generating electricity from local and renewable sources, bringing its total installed capacity to 766 MW. The projects, for which turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction contracts have been signed, are set to be completed and commence energy production in 2024.

Projects in Osmaniye and Çanakkale

Two of Akfen Renewable Energy’s GES investments will be developed within the territories of the Sarıtepe and Demirciler wind energy projects, totaling 57 MW and 23 MW, respectively, operated under the umbrella of Imbat Energy in Osmaniye. These projects, to be established as hybrid GES, will have capacities of 13.27 MW for the Demirciler Hybrid GES project and 12.98 MW for the Sarıtepe Hybrid GES project.

The third hybrid GES project, currently under construction, will be realized in the Üçpınar RES area in Çanakkale, with a capacity of 112.2 MW, under the management of Derbent Energy, another subsidiary of Akfen Renewable Energy. The Üçpınar Hybrid GES project will have an installed capacity of 40 MW.

Upon completion in 2024, the three new hybrid GES power plants will benefit from the Renewable Energy Resources Support Mechanism (YEKDEM) throughout the remaining duration of the facility, allowing them to benefit from a fixed price guarantee in US Dollars.

Güngör: Reinforcing Our Commitment to Sustainable Energy Production

Providing insights into the investments, Mustafa Kemal Güngör, General Manager of Akfen Renewable Energy, stated, “Announcing three different investment agreements within one week demonstrates a significant expansion of our portfolio focused on renewable sources. These new initiatives, adding a total of 66 MW capacity through hybrid solar energy projects, reinforce our commitment to sustainable energy production. Looking ahead, we continue to pursue new investment opportunities and maintain our strong strategy. With each new project, we strengthen our position as a leader in renewable energy and continue our efforts for a brighter and more sustainable future.”
