Akfen Renewable Energy has received an “Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Positive” decision from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change for the Gelinkaya Solar Energy Plant and Electricity Storage Facility project developed in the Aşkale district of Erzurum. With this decision, Gelinkaya becomes the first project in Turkey to receive a “Positive EIA” decision in the field of electricity storage integrated with solar energy production.
The Gelinkaya project, with a capacity of 35.75 MWm / 30 MWe and covering an area of 44.86 hectares, includes a modern storage facility with a capacity of 30 MWe / 60 MWh. This decision marks the first “Positive EIA” decision for Akfen Renewable Energy’s standalone electricity storage projects, which are currently in the investment stage with a total capacity of 285 MWe. It also holds the distinction of being the first project in Turkey to receive a Positive EIA decision in the field of electricity storage integrated with solar energy production.
