Akfen Holding’s Turkey Human Resources Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV), established by Akfen Renewable Energy, continues to support various segments of society with its “Our Digital Footprint” project, providing education to women living in 27 different rural areas across 18 provinces in Turkey where Akfen Renewable Energy operates its power generation plants.
The “Our Digital Footprint” project, which will run throughout 2024, focuses on the beneficial and correct use of digital platforms. The project aims to inform women and families in rural areas about the potential legal, social, physiological, and psychological issues that may arise from the misuse of digital platforms, thus contributing to the prevention of such problems.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, TİKAV, founded by Akfen Holding to support various segments of society through social responsibility projects, initiates a new project. With the financial support of Akfen Renewable Energy, TİKAV launches the “Our Digital Footprint” project, aiming to raise awareness about the digital world among women living in rural areas near Solar, Wind, and Hydroelectric Power Plants located in 27 different locations across 18 provinces in Turkey.
The “Our Digital Footprint” project, which will run throughout 2024, focuses on the beneficial and correct use of digital platforms. The project aims to inform women and families in rural areas about the potential legal, social, physiological, and psychological issues that may arise from the misuse of digital platforms, thus contributing to the prevention of such problems. Seminars held at 27 locations belonging to Akfen Renewable Energy will educate participants on how to safely navigate the digital world.
Presented as a social responsibility model suitable for the requirements of the modern era, the “Our Digital Footprint” project, with the support of TİKAV and Akfen Renewable Energy, aims to raise societal awareness about the challenges posed by the digital age and to enlighten women in rural areas in this digital age.
Continuing Until the End of 2024
Seminars under the “Our Digital Footprint” project are planned to cover all regions of Turkey throughout 2024. Starting in February with the district of Anamur in Mersin, the training will continue in March with Acıpayam and Kale districts of Denizli, Karacasu and Bozdoğan districts of Aydın, and Ula and Seydikemer regions of Muğla. In April, seminars will be held in Geyve district of Sakarya, Üçpınar Village in Lapseki district of Çanakkale, and İntepe Neighborhood in the center of Çanakkale. In May, the project will reach women in Dereli and Bulancak districts of Giresun, as well as Kahramanlar Village in Sürmene district of Trabzon. In June, the training will take place in Karatepe Neighborhood of Sarayönü district in Konya, Zengen Village in Konya Ereğli, Kusurat Village in Turhal district of Tokat, and Boyalı Mevkii in Kütü Village of Amasya. In September, the project will continue in Kıyıcak Village of Edremit district in Van, Fırıncı Village of Battalgazi district in Malatya, and Şahinkaya Village Central District of Elazığ. In October, women in Kaman Village in Osmaniye and Bahçe regions will be reached.
Providing Face-to-Face Training to 6,800 Women in 4 Different Projects
In collaboration between TİKAV and Akfen Renewable Energy, in 2017, the “We Became School at Home” project reached 800 women in 15 regions concerning the development of children aged 0-6. In 2018, under the theme of health, the “Health Comes First” project provided health education to 1,500 women in 17 regions. The “Hygiene is Health” project, which started in 2019, reached 2,000 women in 26 different locations.
Following the pandemic, the “Savings in Our Home, Future in Our Hands” project was implemented to address the increased environmental and economic challenges, providing education to 2,500 women living around energy plants owned by Akfen Renewable Energy, promoting saving methods within families and achieving a lifestyle harmonious with nature.
Thus, a total of 6,800 women have been provided with face-to-face education on various topics through 4 different social responsibility projects. The number of people indirectly reached through these projects exceeds 20,000.
