Mersin Combined Cycle Natural Gas Power Plant
Akfen Enerji Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş.(Akfen Energy Generation) placed the highest bid of TL 40.6 million to purchase the 58,000 m2 land tract, in neighborhood of Akdeniz district in the province of Mersin. The Company signed an Asset Purchase Agreement with the Privatization Administration on January 10, 2012, and the deed transfer was made on January 19, 2012.
Akfen Energy Generation filed an application with EMRA on December 18, 2012 to revise the installed capacity of the natural gas power plant upwards to 1,148.4 MW, and has then received EMRA’s approval about the capacity increase. The EIA report on the project was evaluated, analyzed, and received final approval. The favorable EIA certificate issued on December 10, 2013 was presented to EMRA, which granted the Company the revised license. The revision of the license was completed on January 13, 2014 upon the issue and approval of the EIA report. Project’s license was terminated by EMRA as of 30.12.2020, upon our application.
Adana İpekyolu Enerji Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş
Additionally, Akfen Thermal Energy Investments completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in Adana İpekyolu on November 22, 2013. Adana İpekyolu applied to EMRA for a generation license for a coal-fired power plant, to be built in Yumurtalık, Adana, with an installed capacity of 615 MWm-600 MWe. The project has obtained the EIA report approval. The projects prelicense application was rejected by EMRA in July 2016.
Akfen Holding took over the remaining 0.75% shares of Akfen Energy Generation (equally owned by Akfen Tourism, Akfen Construction and Akınısı) of which it has a 99.25% stake, on January 18, 2021, thus becoming the 100% owner of the company. Afterwards, merger process of Akfen Enerji Üretim A.Ş., a 100% subsidiary of Akfen Holding, has started. With the completion of the registration process as of March 5, 2021, Akfen Holding’s merger process with Akfen Enerji Üretim A.Ş. has been completed.
