Sustainability Goals

We are reshaping our “Creating Value for the Future” commitment in line with the evolving priorities of a changing world.

Sustainability is one of Akfen Holding’s strategic priorities. The evolving global agenda, regulatory landscape and stakeholder expectations require us to periodically review and refine our approach in this area.

Issues such as the climate crisis, resource efficiency, human rights and transparent governance are at the heart of the way we do business. Accordingly, we are undertaking a comprehensive review of our sustainability governance structure, policies and targets.

Through this process, we aim to strengthen alignment across our Group companies and bring our sustainability performance to a level that is measurable and comparable against international standards.

Renewed Sustainability Governance

We have restructured our sustainability governance model to manage our initiatives more effectively, improve our sustainability performance and strengthen our decision-making processes.

In this context, we reorganised the activities previously carried out under a committee structure into four dedicated Working Groups: Planet, People, Governance and Investment. We also revised the meeting frequency of these groups to enable them to respond to the evolving sustainability agenda and make timely decisions.

Our Working Groups prepare written action plans, monitor agenda items in line with the established roadmap and evaluate progress during meetings held every two months. The outcomes of these meetings are presented to the Sustainability Committee on a quarterly basis.

By strengthening topic-specific expertise, this structure enables us to manage our actions across environmental, social and governance matters through a more data-driven approach. In doing so, we are accelerating decision-making while improving the traceability of our on-the-ground practices.

Aligning Our Policies with Our Goals

We continue to enhance the sustainability policies implemented across the Group in line with our updated goals, national and international reporting standards—including TSRS, GRI and ESRS—applicable legislation and stakeholder expectations.

Through this work, we aim to establish a consistent, traceable and auditable Sustainability Management System across the Group and reinforce our approach to critical areas such as ethics, human rights, supply chain management, the environment and climate change.

Accordingly, we continue to review and improve our policies in light of evolving regulatory requirements and leading international practices.

Updating Our Double Materiality Assessment

The outcomes of our Double Materiality Assessment will form the foundation of our sustainability strategy and goals.

We first conducted our Double Materiality Assessment in 2022. This year, we reviewed and updated the assessment in alignment with the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive—CSRD.

We expanded the scope of the assessment to include all our Group companies and reassessed our impacts, risks and opportunities from both environmental and social perspectives, as well as from the perspective of financial risks and opportunities.

As part of this process, we sought the views of a broad range of stakeholders, including our employees, suppliers, customers, investors and representatives of civil society organisations.

Through this assessment, we are evaluating both the impacts of our activities on the environment and society and the financial risks and opportunities that sustainability-related matters may create for our business.

Alongside the Double Materiality Assessment, we are also conducting a Material Topics Assessment. By analysing the views of our internal and external stakeholders together with relevant sector trends, we continue to identify the sustainability topics of greatest significance and impact for Akfen.

Our Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Goals

In line with our updated material topics, we are reviewing our short-, medium- and long-term goals and aligning them with our new sustainability roadmap.

In setting these goals, we take into consideration both the topics that can be managed collectively across the Group and the specific priorities arising from the individual areas of activity of each Group company.

We are developing a target framework that is:

  • Measurable and time-bound,
  • Based on scientific principles and aligned with international frameworks,
  • Consistent with our business strategy and investment plans.

Through this approach, we aim to establish a framework that enables us to evaluate our sustainability performance not only against today’s requirements, but also against the expectations of the future.

Our commitment to “Creating Value for the Future” remains unchanged. What has changed is the path forward—one that is now clearer, more measurable and more inclusive.
