Through the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” Project, TİKAV Provides Disaster Preparedness Training to Women Living in Rural Areas

Founded by Akfen Holding, the Turkish Human Resources, Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV) continues to support women living in 28 different rural locations across 18 provinces in Türkiye, where Akfen Renewable Energy has power plant investments, through various training programs organized annually.

With the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project, TİKAV aims to raise awareness among women living around solar, wind, and hydroelectric power plants operated by Akfen Renewable Energy, focusing on disaster preparedness and protection.

Aiming to create awareness across all areas of life through its projects, TİKAV plans to organize a total of 25 training sessions in 28 different rural locations across Türkiye by the end of 2025 as part of the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project. The initiative seeks to increase individual and community resilience by raising awareness among women living in regions with high disaster risk.

Founded by Akfen Holding and aiming to support different segments of society through social responsibility projects, the Turkish Human Resources, Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV) continues without interruption its disaster awareness training programs for women living in rural areas under the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project. While maintaining its mission of raising awareness in all areas of life, TİKAV prioritizes supporting women and their families living in rural regions where wind (WPP), solar (SPP), and hydroelectric (HPP) projects financed by Akfen Renewable Energy Inc. are located.

Through the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project implemented in regions hosting hydroelectric, solar, and wind power plants of Akfen Renewable Energy, training programs have so far been successfully conducted in the provinces of Trabzon, Giresun, Malatya, Elazığ, Erzurum, Muğla, Denizli, and Aydın. During these trainings, women were informed about precautions to be taken before disasters, appropriate actions during disasters, and solidarity-based recovery processes after disasters. Participants were also briefed on the social, economic, and psychological impacts of disasters on women.

As part of the “Take Precautions, Stay Safe” project, TİKAV aims to organize 25 training sessions in 28 different rural locations across Türkiye by the end of 2025, with the goal of increasing individual and community resilience by raising awareness among women living in high-risk disaster areas.

TİKAV Has Reached 9,300 Women Through Five National Projects to Date

Through the collaboration between TİKAV and Akfen Renewable Energy, the “Home-Schooled at Home” project launched in 2017 reached 800 women in 15 regions, focusing on the development of children aged 0–6. Under the “Health First” theme in 2018, health education was provided to 1,500 women in 17 regions. With the launch of the “Hygiene Is Health” project in 2019, 2,000 women were reached across 26 different locations.

Following the pandemic, the “Savings Start at Home, the Future Is in Our Hands” project provided training to 2,500 women living in regions hosting Akfen Renewable Energy power plants, focusing on adopting household savings methods and promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle amid growing environmental and economic challenges. With the implementation of the “Our Digital Footprint” project, a total of approximately 9,300 women have received face-to-face training on various topics through five different social responsibility projects. The number of individuals reached indirectly through these initiatives has exceeded 20,000.
