Integrating its renewable energy investments with an environmental, economic, and social sustainability approach to create lasting value for farmers, women, and local communities in the regions where it operates, Akfen Renewable Energy organized an agricultural training program for farmers and local residents covering greenhouse farming, fruit cultivation, professional support mechanisms, agricultural loans, and grant programs.

As one of Türkiye’s leading companies producing electricity exclusively from clean and renewable sources, Akfen Renewable Energy continues to create social value through initiatives that support agricultural production and local development in the regions where it operates.

In this context, Akfen Renewable Energy organized an agricultural training seminar for farmers and local residents in Umurbey, a town in the Lapseki district of Çanakkale, focusing on greenhouse farming, fruit cultivation, professional agricultural support, agricultural loans, and grant programs. The seminar, held to contribute to the development of regional agricultural production and sustainable development, was attended by representatives from the Umurbey Municipality, Lapseki District Directorate of Agriculture, Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK), Lapseki Ziraat Bank Branch, as well as numerous farmers and local residents.

During the training, participants were provided with information on modern greenhouse practices, methods to increase efficiency in fruit cultivation, professionalization in agricultural production, government incentives, agricultural loans, and grant programs.

Commenting on the event, Burak Solmaz, Environment Management and Public Relations Manager at Akfen Renewable Energy, stated:
“Today, we came together to support our farmers in achieving more professional production in greenhouse farming and fruit cultivation, and to facilitate their access to financing and support programs in line with our sustainable development goals. We believe that bringing all stakeholders together around a shared vision is essential for better agriculture and a stronger local economy. As always, we consider contributing to social development in Çanakkale a responsibility.”

Akfen Renewable Energy’s efforts to support local development in rural areas extend beyond agricultural training programs. Under the coordination of the Turkish Human Resources, Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV), founded by Akfen Holding, the company organizes educational seminars for women living in 27 rural regions across 18 provinces in Türkiye where its power plants are located. Within the scope of these programs, women in rural areas receive face-to-face training on health, hygiene, child development, and digital literacy, with the aim of strengthening social sustainability and supporting social transformation.

By integrating its renewable energy investments with an environmental, economic, and social sustainability approach, Akfen Renewable Energy continues to create lasting value for farmers, women, and local communities in the regions where it operates.
