As part of their commitment to creating a sustainable future, the Group shares its initiatives with students through social responsibility projects and organizes educational programs to raise environmental awareness.

In this context, representatives from Akfen Real Estate Investment Trust (Akfen REIT) and Akfen Environment and Water came together with students of Düzce Hikmet Akın Middle School to conduct a “Zero Waste and Environmental Awareness Training.” The training aimed to enhance students’ understanding of zero waste, sustainability, and the climate crisis.

During the training session, Akfen Environment and Water General Manager and Akfen Group Sustainability Leader Emre Sezgin, Akfen REIT Investor Relations Director Emre Yılmaz, and Akfen Environment and Water Environmental Engineer Mustafa Güryıldız shared their knowledge and experiences with the students.

The session provided detailed insights into waste management, explaining the significance of the waste students encounter in their daily lives and the responsibilities individuals can take to contribute to a cleaner society. Students were also informed on how to approach waste management with environmental awareness.

The training covered essential topics such as sustainability, climate crisis, and waste management. The participating students learned about the environmental impacts of the climate crisis and the consequences it has on the world.

On October 1, 2023, Akfen Real Estate Investment Trust (Akfen REIT) was included in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Sustainability Index, which features companies with high sustainability performance.
