Loft Art, which stands out with its mission to create space for and support independent artists, is pleased to announce the group exhibition titled “Duality.” Aiming to build a dialogue shaped around the concept of duality, the exhibition Duality will feature works by 13 independent artists—Alara Başar, Batuhan Daşdemir, Dilara Pak, Eda Duru Çetin, Fatih Kahya, Gonca Acar, Mustafa Mutlu, Mesut İkinci, Oğuzhan Atatanır, Özlem Çetin, Reyhan Mente, Seda Dokumacı, and Sefa Çatuk—and will be open to visitors at Loft Art between May 15 and June 29, 2025.
This new exhibition by Loft Art aims to create a space for dialogue shaped around the concept of duality, a recurring theme in artistic production. Through paired presentations that evolve around contrasts, similarities, and transitions, the exhibition proposes a multilayered discourse between artists and artworks.
In modern and contemporary art practice, duality exists not only as a form of opposition but also as one of the fundamental tools of meaning-making. Contrasts shaped along axes such as body and soul, nature and artificiality, reality and representation, movement and stillness are presented in this exhibition as dual narratives that interact with and transform one another.
The exhibition structure is built around duo pairings. Each pairing invites the viewer into an intellectual inquiry not only through formal or thematic similarities, but sometimes through contrasts and at other times through unexpected harmonies. These encounters establish explicit or implicit dialogues between the artists’ modes of production and conceptual worlds, forming the conceptual backbone of the exhibition.
These dialogues are formed not only between the artworks themselves, but also between the artist’s mental universe and the viewer’s perception. The exhibition invites viewers to observe not only individual visual objects, but also the relationships between them—their points of contact and moments of rupture.
Each duo offers a multilayered interaction space in which the viewer can actively participate in the process of meaning-making. In this way, the exhibition moves beyond singular narratives and proposes a polyphonic, fluid, and dialogic structure. This structure demonstrates that the relationships artworks establish with one another and with the viewer can be flexible, transformative, and plural.
“Each work speaks to the one beside it—sometimes arguing, sometimes completing it. This exhibition explores the potential of dual narrative forms in artistic production through encounters and points of contact.”
